It's okay to feel nervous or even fearful when anticipating a dental appointment. Many people feel anxious before and during dental procedures. To help ease fears, we offer oral sedation, a safe and effective option that allows patients to feel relaxed throughout their treatment. At your initial appointment, Dr. Eckstrom will give you a prescription to fill at your pharmacy and then take the day of your scheduled dental treatment. Because the effects of oral sedation last for several hours, you will need a trusted companion to bring you to your appointment and drive you home afterward.

While oral sedation helps reduce anxiety, it does not relieve pain. A local anesthetic will still be used as needed during your treatment. When used in combination, oral sedation and local anesthetic help make dental care a more comfortable, pleasant experience.
